“Last Night I Dreamt About Her”

WW1 US Army soldier Salvator Cillis,  born in Italy,  immigrated to New York with his family in 190.
He wrote illustrated letters from basic training at Camp Upton in Long Island
and from France. “They’re Greeks and freaks, Irish and
Scotch, Italians and Jews, and the fellow next to my bed is an Armenian. They are of all races, color, religion and opinion…”
